Reagan's Journey: Lessons from a Remarkable Career
Margot Morrell

Business people everywhere can learn a thing or two about communication from Ronald Reagan, who was known as The Great Communicator while he was President of the United States from 1981-89. As a former Hollywood actor, past head of the Screen Actor’s Guild, and a spokesman for General Electric, Reagan was probably the first president who truly understood how to get his message across, as he was an expert at utilizing the medium of television, the press conference, memos, speeches, and the intimate private conversation. Now Margot Morrell, bestselling author of Shackleton’s Way with Stephanie Capparell—an in-depth look at the crisis-management techniques of acclaimed Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton—tackles another larger-than-life figure whose methods and techniques will now be made accessible for everyone.
Morrell, a one-time Washington insider and superb interviewer, has spoken to Reagan aides, contemporaries, and colleagues from both sides of the aisle, as well as unearthed hitherto unseen memos and drafts of speeches that historians have not yet tackled. While the popular notion of Reagan as a sort of kind grandfatherly figure did indeed have truth to it, we also see that Reagan was indeed the master of his own destiny, that he constantly strove to better himself, and that he clearly enunciated his desires and ideals. Tempered with a strong idealism and a mighty political will, readers will see a Ronald Reagan that they may never have realized existed.
Certain to be a hit on business bestseller lists, Reagan’s Journey is a fantastic follow-up to Shackleton’s Way as Margot Morrell continues to make a name for herself in the world of intelligent and readable business book authors.
