Pet Friendly
Sue Pethick
Praise for Pet Friendly
“A light, heartwarming read perfect for a wintry afternoon at home or a sunny beach vacation.”
--RT Book Reviews
“It’s rare that a book can capture the special love between a dog and his humans, but Sue Pethick accomplishes exactly that in her heartwarming debut novel, Pet Friendly, about an unlikely road trip with a sweet, mischievous mutt and a troubled couple.”
—Modern Dog
“A funny and sweet book with plenty of howls!
—The Parkersburg (WV) News & Sentinel
Todd Dwyer, a successful app designer, wasn’t planning to adopt a dog, but when his Uncle Bertie dies and leaves his little mutt Archie homeless, Todd can’t help himself.
Archie is a fluffy, white ball of fur who could charm the marrow out of a bone and Todd admires the scrappy, playful little dog. The two of them form an instant bond, but Todd’s girlfriend, Gwen, is less than impressed. When things go badly the first night, she insists that Todd give Archie to his sister, whose rural home is a day’s drive away. Todd and Archie hit the road, but circumstances compel them to make a detour to The Spirit Inn, a quaint hotel that holds fond childhood memories for Todd.
The inn’s new owner is Todd’s childhood sweetheart, Emma Carlyle, who inherited the place from her grandmother. Though the inn has some loyal customers, including a colorful group of ghost hunters in town for a paranormal conference, Emma doubts the business can survive. Yet Archie is determined to lend a helping paw. And with his unerring canine instincts and loyal heart, he may help Todd see the happiness that’s waiting, just under his nose…
